Osprey: Because your customers do more than dive
Odds are, your store carries at least one line of dedicated gear bags for divers. These bags will have features such as fin pockets and padded compartments for regulators and gauges. They are perfect for flying from Point A to Point B with a large load of gear.
You most likely also carry a line of mesh gear bags. Your students use these for carrying masks, snorkels and fins to and from the pool. They also come in handy at resort destinations when you need a bag to carry your warm-water gear to and from the boat that won’t take up a lot of room while on board.
The only problem with both these types of bags is that they are only good for diving. And, unfortunately, your customers do more than just dive. Consider your own situation:
- You may have a hard-sided briefcase for carrying documents and other items but wish it was lighter and less bulky.
- That backpack you used in college to transport your books around campus is probably still with you, except now it is more of a computer and document bag.
- When flying for reasons other than diving, you likely have a fabric carry-on bag that fits more readily under the seat in front of you or in an overhead compartment.
Guess what? Your customers have much the same needs as you. Dedicated dive bags can’t meet these needs. But Osprey bags can. And they can do double duty for both diving and everyday life.
The Osprey way
For nearly a half-century, Osprey has been building high-end products that fit a wide variety of needs. Quality and sustainability are at the heart of what they do. The Osprey bag your customers buy today will likely be something they pass on to their children (or grandchildren) years from now.
This video, which covers the features and benefits of Osprey’s Arcane Duffel Pack will give you a feel for the degree of thoughtfulness built into all Osprey products.
Osprey has a dizzying array of products covering virtually every bag need. You can see for yourself on their website (link below). You will find everything from products for serious backpackers to baby carriers and briefcases. The selection of daypacks is staggering.
Easy to sell
Here is our recommendation for selling Osprey bags to your customers.
- Browse the Osprey website to find a mix of products that would best fit your customers’ needs. Focus on items that can do double duty for both diving and non-diving applications.
- Be sure to include in this mix at least one product that you can see yourself using on a daily basis.
- When around students and customers, be sure to extoll the virtues of your Osprey bag. Talk about how rugged it is and how its unique features are not found elsewhere. You will be surprised at the number of customers who will want an Osprey bag just like yours.
